In 2000, The Greater Toronto Apartment Association established a Charitable Foundation to raise money within the association and provide grants to community agencies working with the homeless in the greater-Toronto area.
On July 1, 2005, the Foundation is became a registered charity with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. This enables us to provide tax receipts for donations.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors. Each year, this Board selects the worthy recipients of funds which were collected by direct donations or raised through fundraising activities.
Currently, the Foundation grants more than $110,000 per year to smaller local organizations working with the homeless and hard to house as well as community organizations with similar goals.
On October 24, 2019 at our Annual Dinner, GTAA’s Charitable Foundation presented seven organizations with $20,000 (each), totalling $140,000:
360° Kids, Eva’s Initiatives, Home Suite Hope, Kehilla Residential Programme, Massey Centre, Nellie’s, The Redwood
