In 2000, The Greater Toronto Apartment Association established a Charitable Foundation to raise money within the association and provide grants to community agencies working with the homeless in the greater-Toronto area.
On July 1, 2005, the Foundation is became a registered charity with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. This enables us to provide tax receipts for donations.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors. Each year, this Board selects the worthy recipients of funds which were collected by direct donations or raised through fundraising activities.
Currently, the Foundation grants more than $110,000 per year to smaller local organizations working with the homeless and hard to house as well as community organizations with similar goals.
Each year at the GTAA’s Annual Meeting and Dinner, the Partnering Grants are awarded to worthy organizations. In October 2017 (above photograph) 360degree Kids, Home Suite Home, Kehilla Residential Programme, Massey Centre and Nellie’s were each awarded $20,000 grants, totalling $100,000.
